Reactiv Secures $7M Seed Round to Transform Mobile Commerce with AI
tl;dr
Toronto-based Reactiv raised $7M CAD to scale its AI-powered no-code mobile commerce platform, featuring dynamic updates and Reactiv Clips.
U.S. investors led the seed round after Canadian VCs showed limited interest in backing ambitious ecommerce innovations.
Funds will support platform enhancements, launch Clips, and expand Reactiv’s team, with $1M USD in potential annual revenue already in the pipeline.
Toronto-based startup Reactiv has exited stealth with a $5 million USD ($6.97 million CAD) seed round led by Bonfire Ventures, supported by American VCs like Foxe Capital, Anthemis Group, and Daher Capital. This funding follows an earlier $625,000 USD ($871,000 CAD) pre-seed round, bringing Reactiv's total raised to over $7 million CAD. Jennifer Richard from Bonfire Ventures will join Reactiv’s board.
Reactiv’s AI-powered platform offers ecommerce merchants a no-code mobile app builder with features like app generation from websites, dynamic updates, and advanced engagement tools. Customers include brands like Campmor and Canadian retailer FragranceBuy. The platform’s standout tool, Reactiv Clips, embeds fully functional app sections in ads or social media posts, enabling sales conversion without shoppers needing to download apps.
The company launched in 2023, founded by Shopify alumni Ross Correia and Zack Elias, alongside Michael Pezzi and Vikash Jha. Initially bootstrapped by its founders, who leveraged personal assets, Reactiv has since expanded to a 28-person team, with plans for further hires.
Despite a strong commitment to building in Canada, Correia revealed difficulties in securing local VC backing, citing a preference for conservative investments. Instead, U.S. investors embraced Reactiv’s ambitious vision for high-growth tech and ecommerce innovation.
The fresh funding will fuel engineering advancements, the market launch of Clips, and further platform enhancements. With a waitlist already reflecting $1 million USD in annual recurring revenue, Reactiv is poised to redefine mobile commerce for merchants globally.
