OBIO® Launches National Health Science Technology Training Program
The Ontario Bioscience Innovation Organization (OBIO®) has marked a pivotal moment in Canadian workforce development with the introduction of the national Health Science Technology Training for Software and Data Professionals program, powered by Upskill Canada.

Developing the health technology workforce and enabling talent to transition into high-demand technology roles will enable Canadian companies to commercialize and adopt digital technologies faster, giving them a competitive edge on a global scale,” says President & CEO, Dr. Maura Campbell.
The collaborative program is set to carve new career pathways for individuals eyeing a transition into high-demand roles within the health science sector while catering to the needs of fast-growing health science employers. Designed to equip up to 100 participants over 14 weeks, the program will cover topics including software development for health science, regulatory frameworks for software as a medical device, data compliance, cybersecurity, AI & machine learning, and foundational skills.
Crucially, this endeavor receives funding from Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada’s (ISED) Upskilling for Industry Initiative. The program is forecasted to benefit over 15,000 Canadian workers. Rhonda Barnet, CEO of Palette Skills, the chosen facilitator for the Upskill Canada initiative, expressed enthusiasm, emphasizing the ambition to expand opportunities for Canadians in high-demand roles while empowering companies to reach their full potential.
Individuals aspiring to join the inaugural cohort can submit their applications by December 15 via obio.ca/health-science-technology-training.
