Alberta-based Start-up Launches Next Health & Wellness Innovation

It’s always exciting to see start-ups that can build on their initial success. True Angle is one of these companies scaling their innovation, as they expand their product line to bring wearable wellness technology to an even broader audience.

Their initial success, Mobili-T, is a compact system designed to help patients recover from dysphagia (swallowing difficulties). While Mobili-T has made its way into the hands of clinicians and their patients all over the United States, True Angle’s next innovation has the potential to impact the wellness of a much larger audience.

In April, True Angle is launching Breth, the only discrete multisensory device on the market, that targets respiratory health and stress relief using the power of breath.

How did they go down this path from dysphagia to stress-relief? Consider this - can you think of anything more stressful than the anxiety you feel about choking every time you swallow a bite of food? Or that you can’t meet your nutritional needs because of your swallowing difficulty? This keen awareness of the impact of physical health on mental health paved the way for developing technology to help a more widespread population.

They set out, designing a way to enhance the body's respiratory capabilities and as a welcomed by-product, its natural ability to manage stress. Like the Mobili-T, Breth does this through guided, sensory-rich exercise sessions.

CEO and co-founder, Dr. Jana Rieger explains, “Our talented team of researchers, clinicians, engineers and designers who got Mobili-T off the ground, showed us there was potential for even more. Breth is here to target widespread health and wellness epidemics – respiratory health and stress. The interest we’ve had from wellness experts, athletes, the medical community and just people looking to better cope with the demands of everyday life have shown us we’re really onto something. Breth is harnessing the power of something we all have within us to help us live better, healthier, and enjoyable lives. ”
