This issue of Disruption dives into sustainable energy and the innovations propelling us towards a net-zero future. As the world grapples with energy transition and decarbonization goals, we want to showcase the companies and people driving us toward a greener, more energy-efficient and sustainable tomorrow.

You’ll no doubt be inspired by our cover story focused on the Edmonton International Airport, which is charting a path towards the hydrogen energy revolution with its Airport City Sustainability Campus, encouraging decarbonization and building sustainability into the core of everything the airport does. Together with Edmonton Global, the airport is putting the Edmonton region on the map and positioning it at the forefront of the global green energy transition. Travellers through the airport may even have the chance to take a ride Toyota’s hydrogen vehicle, the Mirai, giving consumers a glimpse into the hydrogen energy future.

It’s clear that building a greener future takes leadership. It requires people who believe in the power of innovation and the vision to see what’s possible. We’re excited to feature two such leaders in the energy sector for our Women Making a Difference feature who exemplify innovation and collaboration. Our story on Arcus Power is a testament to the power of innovative tech in our energy future, showcasing its model of using artificial intelligence and machine learning to help its clients optimize their power distribution.

We were also honoured to be part of the Women Funding Women’s official launch recently in Toronto. This group of powerhouse women are no doubt going to be a power for change in the venture capital world, where women still receive just a fraction of investment capital. And on the topic of venture capital, we caught up with Zoey Dash McKenzie to learn about her visionary investment fund, Public Ventures, which is spearheading efforts to support innovation at the intersection of health and sustainability.

And don’t miss the thought-provoking Last Word column by Sheri Hinish, the Supply Chain Queen, who reminds us of the transformative power of supply chains in shaping a more sustainable future.

We hope these stories of innovation, collaboration and determination inspire you on your own journey towards building a better future. Together, we can build a world powered by sustainable energy, where disruption leads to positive change.
