bitBiome: Pioneering Microbial Innovation

Tokyo-based bitBiome is transforming the bioeconomy by unlocking the immense potential of microbes. Since its founding in 2018, the company has harnessed cutting-edge technology to push the boundaries of microbial research. "Our purpose is to unlock the full potential of microbes and thereby turbocharge innovation in the bioeconomy," says Yuji Suzuki, CEO.

bitBiome stands out with its proprietary single-cell whole-genome sequencing technology, creating one of the world’s largest genome databases, now exceeding two billion sequences. "More than 60% of our database contains unique, natural sequences that nobody else can find due to our distinct methodology," Suzuki highlights. This extensive resource, backed by their advanced bio- and cheminformatic in silico modeling, combining public AI tools like Google's AlphaFold and bitBiome’s proprietary tools, enables the company to identify new functional enzymes with remarkable accuracy.

Beyond its technological advancements, bitBiome benefits from support by the Startup Genome Hypergrowth program. This partnership aids in accelerating their international expansion and provides valuable resources for fundraising and market penetration. "The support from Startup Genome has been crucial in helping us refine our marketing and prepare for future growth," Suzuki notes.

As bitBiome shifts from offering sequencing services to developing its own enzyme-based products, its innovative approach and strategic support position it at the forefront of the biotech industry. With ongoing international expansion and a growing portfolio, bitBiome is set to make a significant impact on the global bioeconomy.
